Gretchen Whitmer Criticizes Trump: 'Donald Trump Has No Understanding of You'

In a speech filled with jabs at former President Donald Trump, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer ridiculed his past references to her as "that woman from Michigan" during her address on the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

Whitmer countered by calling Trump "that man from Mar-a-Lago" and dismissed his comments, declaring that being from Michigan is "a badge of honor." She criticized Trump's ability to relate to everyday Americans, stating, "Kamala Harris understands us because she has lived a life similar to ours."

Whitmer continued, "Donald Trump doesn’t have a clue about your struggles. Do you think he understands what it’s like when your car breaks down and you can't get to work? No. His first word was probably 'chauffeur.'"

She compared Trump’s detachment to her own experiences and those of many Americans, noting that Harris, like Whitmer, cared for a loved one during illness. "Do you think Trump has ever had to take items out of his cart to stay within budget? Or even been to a grocery store? That’s what the chauffeur is for," she quipped.
